• Name must match passport exactly

5 recent passport-sized photos

Issued by a licensed Panamanian doctor (we coordinate)

• Must be duly registered with the Civil Registry in Panama
• Must have fiscal stamps affixed
• If married abroad, ensure registration in Panama

For the Panamanian Spouse:

Duly notarized and signed by your Panamanian spouse

Issued by the Tribunal Electoral (or certification of naturalization if citizenship was obtained through naturalization)

Duly authenticated by the Civil Registry of Panama (Tribunal Electoral)

If you have children together

• Electricity bill + notarized rental agreement (minimum 1 year)

The Marriage Interview: What to Expect

Interview Details

To ensure the authenticity of your marriage relationship

Assigned by Panama’s National Migration Service

Both partners interviewed individually

Approximately 1 hour

You’ll go through this interview twice:
• Once during initial application
• Again when applying for permanent residence

If you’re not fluent in Spanish, you may bring a licensed interpreter to the interview to ensure effective communication with the authorities.

In some cases, couples with two joint children may be exempt from the marriage interview. However, for most applicants, the interview is a crucial part of the process that must be successfully navigated.
